Newcastle Village is located in one of the most highly developed and prosperous regions of Canada, the North shore of Lake Ontario. Newcastle is in the part of the country that was once called "Upper Canada". At first there were two villages, Bond Head and Newcastle Village. Bond Head was the name given to the community beside Lake Ontario while Newcastle Village was a mile and a half North on the main road from Toronto to Kingston. In 1851 the harbour changed its name from Bond Head to Port of Newcastle and in 1896 there were 2 ravaging fires on main street that forever changed the look of Newcastle Village.

The name "Town of Newcastle" was used from 1973-94 and then changed in 1994 to "Newcastle Village" to alleviate confusion between the municipality as a whole and the community with the same name. Now with a population of 10,000 strong and growing, Newcastle is a place to raise your family and experience life at a quieter pace.
